A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. William F. "Bill" Morie III; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. William F. "Bill" Morie III has long been recognized by the citizens of this
state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Morie has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his
time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as president and chief
executive officer of the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association for 40 years;
and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association is a trade association comprising
over 500 franchised, new automobile and truck dealers in Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Morie began his distinguished tenure with the Georgia Automobile Dealers
Association in 1970, and prior to his service in Georgia, he served as director
of field services with the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association;
and
WHEREAS,
an active community leader, Mr. Morie serves on the board of directors of the
Georgia Chamber of Commerce, where he has served as chairman of the Governmental
Affairs Council and assisted in organizing the GOAL Program, which recognizes
outstanding vocational school students; and
WHEREAS,
his leadership and guidance have been instrumental to numerous organizations,
including the National Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation, the
State YMCA Board of Directors, Resources and Residential Alternatives, the
Georgia Seat Belt Coalition, and Georgia State University's Advisory Committee;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Morie has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades, including the
Board of Directors Special Award from the Recreational Vehicle Industry
Association; and
WHEREAS,
an avid sportsman, Mr. Morie enjoys hunting and fishing, loves Braves baseball
and Falcons football, and is working to qualify for the Professional Golfers
Association; and
WHEREAS,
he is united in love and marriage to his wife, Andrea, has been blessed with two
sons, Michael and Matthew, and is a member in good standing with the Gridiron
Society – "Sic Vois Non Vobis"; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. William F. "Bill" Morie III for his efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated service to the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association
and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. William
F. "Bill" Morie III.
