RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Clifford Courtney "Court" Stockton; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Clifford Courtney "Court" Stockton on November 16, 2010;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Stockton was born on October 15, 1957, a beloved son of the late Dorothy Ann
Strickland and Hamilton Stockton, Jr.; and
WHEREAS,
he was an owner of H. Stockton's clothing stores, helping to outfit many of
Atlanta's business leaders and providing customers with a friendly and welcoming
atmosphere for shopping and catching up with friends; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of North Fulton High School, Mr. Stockton demonstrated his
entrepreneurial spirit at an early age, co-founding Nature's Way, a plant
business that served metro Atlanta, at the age of 15; and
WHEREAS,
his determination and ingenuity with Nature's Way was recognized with features
in
People
magazine and Explorer
Magazine; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Stockton was a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, the Capital City Club,
St. Anne's Episcopal Church, and the Buckhead Boys; and
WHEREAS,
he was united in love and marriage to his supportive and caring wife, Kristin,
and was blessed with three remarkable sons, Ryan, Hamilton, and Spencer;
and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others;
and
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Stockton will long be remembered for his
love of fishing, family, and friendship, and this loyal son, husband, father,
and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Clifford Courtney "Court"
Stockton and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his
passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Clifford Courtney "Court" Stockton.
