A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. William J. "Johnny" Gresham, Jr.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. William J. "Johnny" Gresham, Jr., has long been recognized by the citizens
of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his superlative service for 18 years on the Georgia
Department of Transportation Board; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Washington, Georgia, Mr. Gresham graduated from Washington-Wilkes
High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of
Technology; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Gresham began his career in real estate, establishing the Gresham Realty
Company in October, 1969, and becoming the managing partner of the real estate
development firm, Lincoln Property Company, in 1980; and
WHEREAS,
in 1984, Mr. Gresham formed the successful office building development company,
City Group, Inc., before being elected to the Georgia House of Representatives
for the 21st District in 1986 and then to the Georgia Department of
Transportation Board in 1989; and
WHEREAS,
before his end of service with the Board in 2007, Mr. Gresham served a term as
vice chairman and two terms as chairman; and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Gresham is united in love and marriage to his devoted wife, Lynda, and he is
blessed with two remarkable daughters, Lynn and Rhonda; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. William J. "Johnny" Gresham, Jr., for his efficient,
effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. William
J. "Johnny" Gresham, Jr.
