RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Eastside High School Academic Team; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Eastside High School Academic Team from Newton County won the 2011 Class AAA
Georgia Academic Team Association State Championship Tournament;
and
WHEREAS,
the team defeated six other teams in a round-robin series of matches to earn a
7-1 record and a tie breaker advantage over Woodward Academy to bring the state
title home to Eastside High School; and
WHEREAS,
Eastside's championship team included Eric Adams, Conner Bryan, Patrick Ford,
Julianna Laseter, Adhithya Rajasekaran, Cole Rogers, and Nic Walter;
and
WHEREAS,
the team was motived and driven to succeed by coach Eric Adams, Newton County's
2008 Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS,
in preparation for competition, the team practiced in 90-minute sessions, twice
a week throughout the academic year, and competed in monthly tournaments;
and
WHEREAS,
the hard work, dedication, and commitment paid off and these smart and gifted
students have brought great honor to their school, classmates, and families with
their state title win.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Eastside High School Academic Team on winning the
Georgia Academic Team Association State Championship.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Eastside
High School Academic Team.
