A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Pope High School; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Pope High School has been named a Platinum School for Academic Achievement by the Georgia Department of Education and the Governor's Office of Student Achievement and has been selected as a Georgia School of Excellence by the Department of Education in 2009 and 2010; and

WHEREAS, this superlative high school has maintained a proud tradition of excellence in education through the outstanding efforts of the dedicated and hard-working administration, faculty, and staff and the bright, focused, and determined students; and

WHEREAS, by creating a safe and respectful learning environment, Pope High School enables students to learn with confidence, experience success, and achieve their maximum potential; and

WHEREAS, Pope High School has been recognized by Atlanta Magazine as a 2011 Top Achiever in Language Arts and Top Achiever in Sports; and

WHEREAS, the teachers, administration, and staff of Pope High work diligently and conscientiously to ensure students have access to the training and resources necessary to succeed and foster positive relationships and mutual respect; and

WHEREAS, by its example, Pope High has set a standard of achievement and a model of excellence and success for other schools to emulate; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia takes great pride in the diligent study and preparation taken by the students of Pope High and looks forward in anticipation to the great achievements this school will accomplish in the future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Pope High School for being named a Platinum School for Academic Achievement, recognize its selection as a Georgia School of Excellence, and commend its outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in education.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Pope High School.
