RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Karen Nasworthy; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Karen Nasworthy has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the welfare of abused and neglected children in Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her volunteer service with the Georgia Court Appointed
Special Advocate (CASA) Program; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Nasworthy has volunteered with the Mountain Circuit CASA Program since its
inception almost five years ago, and her dedication and exceptional service have
been honored by Georgia CASA with the Karen N. Sibley Volunteer of the Year
Award; and
WHEREAS,
named after the founder of CASA, the Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an
outstanding CASA volunteer who has made significant contributions in helping
abused and neglected children in Georgia, and Mrs. Nasworthy was selected out of
more than 1,800 active CASA volunteers for this prestigious honor;
and
WHEREAS,
known for her excellent ability to state facts objectively and thoroughly, Mrs.
Nasworthy is called upon to testify most often in the Mountain Circuit and has
gone above and beyond the call of duty advocating on behalf of 23 children
during her time with CASA; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to working directly with children, Mrs. Nasworthy serves as an
ambassador for the Mountain Circuit CASA Program, helping with recruitment and
fundraisers; and
WHEREAS,
a resident of Clayton, Georgia, Mrs. Nasworthy and her husband give selflessly
to their community, helping repair homes for single parents, the elderly, and
the disabled; and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable woman serve as a shining
example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have
Mrs. Nasworthy as a citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Karen Nasworthy on her volunteer efforts and
contributions and congratulate her on the honorable distinction of being named
the 2008 Georgia CASA Volunteer of the Year.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Karen
Nasworthy.
