A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Honorable James "Larry" Ray on the occasion of his
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Judge James "Larry" Ray has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Judge Ray has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his
time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his over 18 years of superlative service with the
Pickens County Court System; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Pickens High School, Judge Ray served as a guardian of this
nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Marine Corps and then
accepted positions in management with national corporations before establishing
his own small business, R & R Towing, in 1985; and
WHEREAS,
he entered public service as a jailer for the Pickens County Sheriff's Office
and was later appointed administrative assistant and delinquent tax collector
for the Pickens County Commissioner's Office; and
WHEREAS,
Judge Ray was elected to the office of chief magistrate in 1992 and began his
judicial service as only the second chief magistrate of Pickens County;
and
WHEREAS,
his colleagues know him as a hard worker, as a man whose convictions are
supported by careful and meticulous consideration, and as an impartial leader
whose decisions are governed both by law and the rules of honesty and fair play;
and
WHEREAS,
Judge Ray has served with honor and distinction with the State of Georgia, and
his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of
his retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Judge James "Larry" Ray for his efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate
him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most
sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Honorable
James "Larry" Ray.
