A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the National Black MBA Association, Inc., and its Atlanta Chapter; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the National Black MBA Association, Inc. (NBMBAA) was established in 1970 by a group of MBA candidates at the University of Chicago and was incorporated in 1974; and

WHEREAS, with headquarters in Chicago, the NBMBAA has more than 8,000 members and over 40 chapters throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa; and

WHEREAS, NBMBAA is dedicated to establishing partnerships that result in the creation of intellectual and economic wealth within the African American community; and

WHEREAS, NBMBAA partners with over 400 of the country's leading business organizations and private and public sector affiliates with a rich tradition and reputation of uplifting the African American community; and

WHEREAS, established in 1980, the Atlanta Chapter of the NBMBAA has grown from its original membership of 20 to an incredible 800 members, with each member either holding an MBA or another type of advanced degree, studying the field of business, or working as an established leader in the field of business and entrepreneurship; and

WHEREAS, the Atlanta Chapter is one of the premiere business organizations in the Metropolitan Atlanta Area and the State of Georgia, establishing valuable partnerships that lead the charge in inspiring greatness among African Americans; and

WHEREAS, with a mission of education, career and professional development, and entrepreneurship, the Atlanta Chapter implements valuable programs, initiatives, and partnerships for all NBMBAA stakeholders, which include members, community leaders, and corporate and educational partners; and

WHEREAS, in 2004 and 2006, the Atlanta Chapter was named the Southern Region's Chapter of the Year and the National Chapter of the Year for its demonstrated commitment to the principles of the NBMBAA; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of the NBMBAA and its Atlanta Chapter be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the National Black MBA Association, Inc., and its Atlanta Chapter for their dedicated efforts and initiatives in support of the African American community and extend their most sincere best wishes for years of continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Atlanta Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc.
