WHEREAS,
Georgia is most fortunate to have a very diverse community of religious faiths
represented in its local communities throughout this great state;
and

the spiritual leaders of these various faiths provide tremendous comfort, hope,
support, and joy to individuals and families as they proceed through life,
helping them to find God's direction for the road ahead; and
WHEREAS,
through their teachings, the clergy have inspired spiritual understanding and
peace to persons from all walks of life and for generations have reached out to
nurture persons in need of refuge and support along life's journey;
and
WHEREAS,
in each of the last six years, the occasion of Faith and Clergy Day at the
Georgia State Capitol has been observed; and
WHEREAS,
it is appropriate to establish a continuing body and mechanism to coordinate and
facilitate the ongoing observation of Faith and Clergy Day at the Georgia State
Capitol.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the third
Tuesday in February of each year shall be designated as Faith and Clergy Day at
the Georgia State Capitol.
BE

Commission to be composed of 12 members as follows: two members shall be private
citizens appointed by the Governor; two members shall be private citizens
appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; two members shall be

authorized to accept any gift, donation, or grant in furtherance of its purpose
and is authorized to work with any private group, organization, association, or
