RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Lee E. Rhyant on the occasion of his retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Lee E. Rhyant has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
born the son of a sharecropper, Mr. Rhyant graduated from Bethune-Cookman
University and Indiana University and, through the course of his distinguished
career, has held a variety of senior management positions in the automotive and
aerospace industries; and
WHEREAS,
for the last decade, Mr. Rhyant has led the 8,000 employee Lockheed Martin
Aeronautics Company facility in Marietta, Georgia, serving as executive vice
president and general manager and acting as the liaison between the company and
its primary customer, the United States Air Force, and with government and
industry leaders in Cobb County and the metro Atlanta community;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Rhyant has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades throughout his
career, including one of Georgia's 100 Most Influential People, Executive of the
Year by the National Management Association, Citizen of the Year by Cobb County
Chamber of Commerce and the
Marietta Daily
Journal, and Man of Influence by the
Atlanta Business League; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished Bethune-Cookman alumnus had the first co-ed dormitory at the
university named after him and has been featured on the cover of
Georgia Trend
magazine for his tireless leadership with
Lockheed-Martin; and
WHEREAS,
a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Mr. Rhyant is a nationally recognized
speaker, presenting at business conferences, youth leadership forums, and
schools and universities; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Rhyant is generous with his time, serving on boards for numerous
organizations and worthy causes, including Bethune-Cookman University,
Chattahoochee Technical College, Atlanta Urban League, Atlanta Area Boy Scouts
Council, SafeAmerica Foundation, Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, the Georgian
Club, and the United Way of Cobb County; and
WHEREAS,
he is united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Evelyn, and he plans
to enjoy his well deserved retirement spending time with family and friends;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Rhyant has served with honor and distinction with the Lockheed Martin
Aeronautics Company, and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely
missed upon the occasion of his retirement.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Lee E. Rhyant for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated service to the security of our nation; congratulate him upon the grand
occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for
continued health and happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Lee E.
Rhyant.
