A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Lilburn Woman's Club; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Lilburn Woman's Club was founded in 1972 to promote arts, conservation, education, home life, international outreach, and public issues; and

WHEREAS, the club offers support to programs and projects that benefit the local community, arranges social events for members and guests, and encourages study, participation, and enjoyment of the arts; and

WHEREAS, the club uplifts the lives of local children through mentoring programs, annual scholarship awards, the donation of books, and its Spring Into Art annual elementary school art show; and

WHEREAS, members of the club donate their time, talent, and energy to others by providing meals to cancer survivors, hosting annual dances for the mentally and physically challenged, raising money for holiday gifts for needy families, organizing the Lilburn Farmer's Market, and helping to maintain the grounds at Lilburn's historic Wynne Russell House; and

WHEREAS, the club has supported relief outreach efforts in Honduras and Haiti through volunteer service and the donation of over the counter medicines, hygiene items, vitamins, and children's toys; and

WHEREAS, with over 50 active members, the club's influence is far reaching and the Lilburn community as a whole benefits from the numerous contributions of this charitable organization; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine organization and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Lilburn Woman's Club on its outstanding contributions to the City of Lilburn and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Lilburn Woman's Club.
