RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Benjamin Wilson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Benjamin Wilson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment
to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Wilson has demonstrated unwavering inspiration and dedication to his mission
of bringing history alive for the youth of DeKalb County; and
WHEREAS,
in 1997, Mr. Wilson began hosting a program for young African Americans which
allows them to celebrate their rich heritage and become more familiar with their
roots and origins; and
WHEREAS,
over the years Mr. Wilson's program has seen great success in educating youth
about their past and ancestry, and his celebration of African American history
has been adopted by Allgood Elementary School in Stone Mountain and Redan Middle
School in Lithonia; and
WHEREAS,
on February 28, 2009, Redan Middle School will host Mr. Wilson's program called
"Community Black Heritage-From the Motherland, To the Slave House, To the White
House"; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Wilson is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation
for creativity, intelligence, ambition, and enthusiasm; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Benjamin Wilson for his efficient, effective, unselfish,
and dedicated work in educating the youth of this state on their history and
heritage.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Benjamin
Wilson.
