RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team on winning their third
consecutive GISA State Championship and inviting them to be recognized by the
House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Lady Eagles earned the top ranking in the state through perseverance,
determination, and dedication with an exhilarating 43-41 victory over Gatewood
School, earning the school its third consecutive state championship title in
girls basketball; and
WHEREAS,
the GISA Class AA championship title-earning win came after the team scored the
winning basket with only 2.4 seconds to go in the game, and the last-minute
victory capped off the team's ultra-successful season; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, the unity of purpose and spirit
of each member of the team, and their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and
WHEREAS,
the team was led by the astute direction of Head Coach Keith Jones, Assistant
Coach Robert Bryant, and Team Mom and Statistician Beck Maloney;
and
WHEREAS,
the championship Lady Eagles basketball team is composed of talented athletes
Alex Barfield, Lauren Barfield, Sarah Bridges, Marilauren Farr, Millie Foster,
Carley Law, Marlee Locke, Maura Milliron, and Olivia Rogers; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team on their
third straight State Championships, extend their sincerest best wishes for
future success, and invite them to be recognized by the House of Representatives
at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the players
and coaches of the Terrell Academy girls basketball team.
