RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Bishop Alfreda W. Young; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Bishop Alfreda W. Young has demonstrated her commitment to teaching the Gospel,
witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,
psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Atlanta, Georgia, Bishop Young is the beloved daughter of the late
Walter Walker, Sr., and Wynona Walker; and
WHEREAS,
she was educated in the Atlanta Public School System, earned associate's and
bachelor's degrees from Beulah Heights University, attended Luther Rice
Seminary, and is a licensed teacher of the Evangelist Training Association;
and
WHEREAS,
Bishop Young served as youth church minister and associate minister at
Springfield Baptist Church, organized the Alfreda Young Ministry, Inc., in 1996,
was ordained in 1998, and opened the Center of Hope Counseling Center as a place
of refuge for persons needing and seeking counseling in 1999; and
WHEREAS,
just a few months after opening the Center of Hope Counseling Center, Bishop
Young was called upon by the Lord to transform the counseling center to the
Center of Hope Church, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
a licensed clinical and pastoral counselor, Bishop Young has mentored many
women, ministers, and pastors and serves as the chief executive officer of the
Alfreda Young Ministry, Inc., and senior pastor of the Center of Hope Church,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
Bishop Young is a notable author, having written four books/booklets:
Being a Good
Steward,
Getting Past the
Hurt,
A Book of
Prophecies, and
Are You Covered By the
Plan?;
and
WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Bishop Young is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic strata; and
WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Bishop Young is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic strata; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for her innumerable good works
rendered on behalf of persons in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate Bishop Alfreda W. Young on her years of dedicated service
to the community and her congregation.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bishop
Alfreda W. Young.
