RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Jim Van Es on his induction into the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall
of Fame; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Jim Van Es has dedicated an amazing 40 years to molding and inspiring young
minds in the classroom and the sporting arena; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Van Es began his career in education and coaching in 1968 at Darlington,
and, throughout his tenure with the school, he has coached boys and girls
varsity basketball, varsity football, varsity baseball, and junior varsity
basketball; and
WHEREAS,
as an outstanding basketball coach for the school, Mr. Van Es has led five teams
to the state tournaments and one team to the Final Four; and
WHEREAS,
his dedication and commitment to encouraging young Georgians to perform at their
best has been recognized with an award from the Tip-Off Club and the 1989
National High School Basketball Coach Gold Award from
Scholastic
Coach magazine; and
WHEREAS,
along with Mr. Van Es's induction into the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame for
Lifetime Achievement, he is a member of the Franklin Select Circle of Basketball
Coaches, and he is a two-time recipient of the Northwest Georgia Coach of the
Year Award; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his contributions to the student-athletes in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Mr. Jim Van Es for his dedication in guiding young athletes
to achieve their best and congratulate him on his induction into the Rome-Floyd
Sports Hall of Fame.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Jim Van
Es.
