RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Commissioner Tamla Lewis; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Commissioner Tamla Lewis has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the Boy Scouts of America program; and
WHEREAS,
Commissioner Lewis has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours
of her time, talents, and energy with the Boy Scouts of America program at the
local level by assisting with Cub Scout Pack 402, Boy Scout Troop 402, and
Venture Crew 402, and served as Unit Commissioner for the Mountain District for
several years; and
WHEREAS,
a friend to all scouts regardless of background, Commissioner Lewis has
developed a "Scout closet," a cache of sleeping bags, backpacks, and uniforms
for underprivileged scouts to utilize; and
WHEREAS,
she has been an integral part of the international scouting expeditions to
Mexico and has played a major role in broadening the diversity of scouting in
Ellijay, Georgia, by assisting to recruit and mentor Hispanic scouts in the
area; and
WHEREAS,
Commissioner Lewis has been a tireless example of cheerfulness, even in the
midst of irksome tasks, weighty responsibilities, and worrisome circumstances;
and
WHEREAS,
so endeared to the scouts of Gilmer County, Commissioner Lewis has been granted
the honorary title of "Grandma" from numerous scouts; and
WHEREAS,
she has set a fine example of servant leadership and support for youth and
adults through her exemplary dedication to the ideals of scouting and
citizenship; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Commissioner Tamla Lewis for her years of dedication and
selfless service to the youth of North Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Commissioner
Tamla Lewis.
