A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Howard Tygrett III; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Howard Tygrett III on December 25, 2010;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Tygrett was born in Texas, a beloved son of Judith Beene Myers and Howard
Tygrett, Jr.; and
WHEREAS,
he was united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Amy, and was blessed
with two remarkable children, Alice Elizabeth and Ty; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Tygrett moved to Clarkston, Georgia, four years ago and was elected mayor of
the city last year in its first runoff in history; and
WHEREAS,
he used his business sense as an assistant manager for REI to balance
Clarkston's budget for the first time in years; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Tygrett was an advocate for the refugee population of Clarkston, traveling
to Washington in pursuit of federal aid to help the city expand safety measures
and make the city more pedestrian friendly; and
WHEREAS,
he worked diligently with churches and resettlement agencies to provide for the
needs of Clarkston's refugees, helping them with education and tutoring several
children in his free time; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Tygrett served the City of Clarkston with honor and distinction, and his
vision and unyielding commitment set the standard for public service;
and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Tygrett will long be remembered for his
love of family and friendship, and this loyal husband, son, father, brother, and
friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Howard Tygrett III and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Howard Tygrett III.
