RESOLUTION
Commending
the Legislative Fellows Program for Pakistan and inviting program participants
to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Legislative Fellows Program for Pakistan is a two-way exchange project for
professionals and young leaders from Pakistan and the United States and is
organized by the World Learning Visitor Exchange Program; and
WHEREAS,
the purpose of the Legislative Fellows Program for Pakistan is to strengthen the
understanding of the American legislative process and civil society's role in
the political process and foster relationships among Asian and American
institutions; and
WHEREAS,
sponsored by the United States Department of State, the Legislative Fellows
Program for Pakistan will increase institutional capacity in local and national
governments and political organizations through experimental activities,
discussions, site visits, training modules, and professional fellowships;
and
WHEREAS,
participants have the opportunity to increase their understanding of the
legislative process in the United States while engaging in local civic life and
can explore facets unique to the country's history and identity by engaging in
discussion and educational activities that promote learning on academic and
personal levels; and
WHEREAS,
through the Legislative Fellows Program for Pakistan, participants will increase
their understanding of the minority participation and immigrant experience in
the United States, especially as it relates to political integration and
governance; and
WHEREAS,
participants in this amazing cultural exchange include Mr. Muhabbat Shuja Rana,
Mr. Aurangzeb Marral, Ms. Shahana Iftikar, Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khosp, and Mr.
Muhammad Mohsin Iqbal; and
WHEREAS,
the Legislative Fellows Program for Pakistan is a unique opportunity to
strengthen this nation's ties to Asia, and it is abundantly fitting and proper
that this program be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body welcome the participants of the Legislative Fellows Program for
Pakistan to the great State of Georgia, commend them upon their participation in
this prestigious program, and invite them to be recognized by the House of
Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House
of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to each
participant of the Legislative Fellows Program for Pakistan.
