RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Clinch County High School football team on winning the 2010 GHSA Class A
State Championship and inviting them to be recognized by the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
through training, talent, and iron will, the Clinch County High School football
team earned the top ranking in the state for the first time since 2004 and the
fifth time in 50 years; and
WHEREAS,
the talented 2010 Panthers tied the school's record for wins in a season with 15
and set a new Clinch County High School record for total points scored in a
season with 627; and
WHEREAS,
these amazing athletes defeated their opponents by an average score of nearly 42
to 12 during the season and defeated their playoff opponents by an average score
of 32 to 15, providing solid evidence of their exceptional abilities;
and
WHEREAS,
the Panthers proudly won the state title by defeating Savannah Christian 24-12
with the school's first championship win in the Georgia Dome; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of head coach Jim Dickerson; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Clinch County High School football team for winning
the 2010 GHSA Class A State Championship, extend their sincere best wishes for
future success, and invite them to be recognized by the House of Representatives
at a date and time to be designated by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to head coach of
the 2010 Clinch County High School football team, Jim Dickerson.
