A RESOLUTION


Commending Mr. Ted Murray; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, in 2005, Mr. Ted Murray purchased the 18 hole Blueberry Plantation Golf Course in Alma, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Murray, the successful business owner of a precision bolt manufacturing company in South Florida and his wife, Carey, made Alma their permanent home in 2006, even though they had originally planned to remain in Florida; and

WHEREAS, upon the Murray's relocation to Bacon County, Georgia, the couple also brought Mr. Murray's bolt manufacturing company; and

WHEREAS, the transfer of Mr. Murray's business created 35 new jobs in the Alma community; and

WHEREAS, in 2008, the Murray's partnered with Eckart and Natalia Hentschel to construct The Inn at Blueberry Plantation, which includes lodging, dining, and conference areas; and

WHEREAS, the addition of The Blueberry Plantation Inn to the already greatly successful Blueberry Plantation Golf Course has created 28 new jobs in the City of Alma and Bacon County; and

WHEREAS, the Blueberry Plantation Golf Course hosts many tournaments throughout the year, including the Blueberry Tournament in June and the Club Championship in the fall; and

WHEREAS, the Murray's have been notable philanthropists in Alma, hosting numerous charitable golf events at the Blueberry Plantation Golf Course that contribute thousands of dollars to scholarships for economically disadvantaged students throughout Southeast Georgia and promoting youth golf by providing free green fees for all young golfers, amounting to approximately $30,000 a year; and

WHEREAS, Ted and Carey Murray have been blessed with six wonderful children: Tommy, Kim, Dylan, Blake, Chelsea, and Flaire, as well as two grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is honored to have such motivated and hard-working individuals as citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Mr. Ted Murray for his great contributions to the economic growth and development of the City of Alma and Bacon County, Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ted Murray.
