A RESOLUTION

Commending Miss Chasity Hardman on placing as first runner-up in the Miss America Pageant and inviting her to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Miss Chasity Hardman, the reigning Miss Georgia, was the first runner-up in the 2009 Miss America Pageant; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus, Georgia, Miss Hardman represented the State of Georgia with grace, poise, and beauty during her impressive showing at the 2009 Miss America Pageant; and

WHEREAS, she is one of nine children of the incredibly proud Bishop Ann and Norman E. Hardman; and

WHEREAS, Miss Hardman earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Georgia State University and is known throughout her community and the state as a talented musician, having a great vocal ability and playing the alto saxophone, piano, and drums; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to inspiring and uplifting others through the gift of music, Miss Hardman is the founder and executive director of the DREAM Through Music Foundation, has integrated the Dream-a-Long music program with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and was a featured soloist at the National Leadership and Empowerment Conference; and

WHEREAS, Miss Hardman's first runner-up showing has earned her scholarship money she plans to use to further her education in graduate school; and

WHEREAS, the determination, drive, and congeniality Miss Hardman displayed during her quest for the crown of Miss America serve as an example to all and the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this bright and promising citizen.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Miss Chasity Hardman on placing first runner-up in the 2009 Miss America Pageant; recognize her many outstanding achievements and contributions to the State of Georgia; and extend sincerest best wishes for continued future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body invite Miss Chasity Hardman to appear before the House of Representatives at such a date and time to be designated by the Speaker of the House to receive an appropriate copy of this resolution.
