A RESOLUTION


Honoring and celebrating the 110th birthday of Ms. Nell Katherine Meadows; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Nell Katherine Meadows was born on February 17, 1899, the beloved child of Warren M. Meadows and Mary Caroline Blalock; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Carrollton High School, Ms. Meadows went on to attend the State Normal School and the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Meadows diligently and conscientiously dedicated innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her years of superlative service as an educator in North Georgia and the Maple Street School in Carrollton; and

WHEREAS, this woman of deep abiding faith is a member of First Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Meadows is one of the few people in the State of Georgia and this country who have lived to see three centuries, serving as a great source of history and pride; and

WHEREAS, still living in the same house where she was born in Carrollton, Georgia, Ms. Meadows is a wealth of knowledge, full of stories about the town's history and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens; and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Ms. Nell Katherine Meadows on the occasion of her 110th birthday and wishing her many more years of happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Nell Katherine Meadows.
