RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Kay Whithear; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Kay Whithear has served as executive director of Lilburn Cooperative
Ministry since the organization's creation in 1994; and
WHEREAS,
Lilburn Cooperative Ministry was founded by four churches in the Lilburn
community in order to pool resources for outreach ministries and have a greater
impact upon the Lilburn area; and
WHEREAS,
over the years, Lilburn Cooperative Ministry has grown and expanded, moving
from its original location in a small house it shared with Habitat for Humanity
at Mountain Park United Methodist Church to its current location, with room to
accommodate all the ministry's needs; and
WHEREAS,
Lilburn Cooperative Ministry's mission is to give maximum support to clients
while allowing them to maintain their dignity and self worth by assisting with
their utility bills, medical expenses, and food costs and providing spiritual
support; and
WHEREAS,
now a collaborative effort of over 40 churches in the Lilburn area, Lilburn
Cooperative Ministry has given clients over $2,000,000.00 in services and aid;
and
WHEREAS,
a major project organized by Lilburn Cooperative Ministry each month, with the
help of local girl scout and boy scout troops, the Lilburn Post Office, and
Providence Christian Academy, is a food drive which has provided over 1,000 tons
of food to families in need; and
WHEREAS,
under the leadership and vision of Ms. Whithear, Lilburn Cooperative Ministry
opened Lily's Cloak Thrift Store in 1999, which has generated nearly $1 million
in revenue since its decade-long existence;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Whithear's significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of Ms.
Whithear as executive director of Lilburn Cooperative Ministry be appropriately
recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Ms. Kay Whithear for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to Lilburn Cooperative Ministry.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Kay
Whithear.
