A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Master Sergeant Marvell O. Jones on the occasion of his
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their
personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the
freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and
WHEREAS,
Master Sergeant Marvell O. Jones has long been recognized by the citizens of
this nation for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States;
and
WHEREAS,
Master Sergeant Jones has served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and
liberty with the United States Air Force since he was 18 and is a graduate of
Basic Military Training and Senior Advance Supply at Lackland Air Force Base and
Inventory Management at Lowry Air Force Base; and
WHEREAS,
he has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades during his military
career, including an Air Force Achievement Medal and an Outstanding Unit Award
with Valor for his service in Operations Desert Calm, Desert Storm, and Desert
Shield and a Meritorious Service Medal and an Air Force Achievement Medal for
his service in Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom;
and
WHEREAS,
a nephew of the President of Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials and
State Representative Tyrone Brooks, Master Sergeant Jones is united in love and
marriage to Air Force Master Sergeant Sabra Lee Jones and has been blessed with
four sons, Travell, Jyrell, Jeffery, and Marvell II; and
WHEREAS,
Master Sergeant Jones embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in
something greater than himself, and his decades of service as a guardian of this
nation's freedom and liberty are worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Master Sergeant Marvell O. Jones for his efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of his country;
congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; express their
gratitude for his sacrifice in serving as a guardian of this nation's freedom
and liberty; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued
health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Master
Sergeant Marvell O. Jones.
