A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Ms. Shirley Gene Burnett; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Ms. Shirley Gene Burnett on January 26, 2011;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Burnett was born on September 17, 1949, and was a beloved daughter of the
late Cissie Lou Gilbert and Willie Ed Jones; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Burnett accepted Christ at an early age
and was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a
member of the usher board; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Burnett worked for Uniroyal for many years and dedicated 25 years to helping
others as an employee at Warrenton Health and Rehab; and
WHEREAS,
she leaves behind many who will cherish her memory, including her sons, Travers
and Quincy, four brothers, six sisters, two aunts, and many dear friends;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Burnett gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep
concern for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding
she demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others;
and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Ms. Burnett will long be remembered for her
love of family and friendship, and this loyal mother, sister, niece, and friend
will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
her.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Ms. Shirley Gene Burnett and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
