A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Wesley E. Hixon; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Wesley E. Hixon has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership, his deep personal commitment to nature, and his passion as an outdoors man; and

WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Wildwood, Georgia, Mr. Hixon has served in the outdoor consulting industry as president of Wes Hixon's Outdoor Adventures & Travel for 32 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hixon has hunted and fished on every major continent in the world and has hosted numerous outdoor television shows in Africa, Alaska, Canada, Colorado, and Texas; and

WHEREAS, his outstanding three-part fishing series for the Outdoor Life Network's national television series was nominated for an Emmy Award and he has hosted and directed two hunting instructional videos filmed in Africa; and

WHEREAS, a life member of Safari Club International and founding president of the organization's Greater Chattanooga Area Chapter, Mr. Hixon has been instrumental in raising funds for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for use in providing battery powered underwater cameras for rescues, purchasing night vision optics, maintaining truck equipment, paying for gasoline, and keeping jobs; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of the future leaders of his community as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as Chairman of the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America Sporting Clays Tournament and his work with the Georgia Department of Agriculture's 4-H Youth Competition; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Wesley E. Hixon for his dedicated, effective, and committed service to the outdoor world and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Wesley E. Hixon.
