RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending 24th Annual Heart of the Community Award Winner Gail McGill
Johnson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gail McGill Johnson has earned a reputation for community service and
selfless dedication to others that has been recognized by the Heart of the
Community Foundation, Inc., and the Redmond Regional Medical Center with her
honor as a 2010 Heart of the Community Award; and
WHEREAS,
founded in 1987, the Heart of the Community Foundation Award honors community
leaders, with 157 individuals recognized for their altruistic service over the
last 24 years; and
WHEREAS,
the Heart of the Community Foundation has raised over $500,000.00 for the
support of local heart related activities, community education, and local
charities; and
WHEREAS,
the 2010 Heart of the Community Award recipients will have donations made to a
local charity in their honor; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Coosa High School and earned a master's degree in
business administration from Berry College; and
WHEREAS,
a community leader, Mrs. Johnson is active with numerous organizations in Rome,
Georgia, including the Floyd County Relay for Life for the American Cancer
Society, the Family Resource Center, the Exchange Club, the Greater Rome Chamber
of Commerce, Rome Runner's Club, Coosa Valley Fair Board of Directors, and the
United Way of Rome; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Johnson has been united in love and marriage to her husband, Max, for 25
wonderful years; and
WHEREAS, the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable woman serve as a shining example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have Mrs. Johnson as a citizen.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Gail McGill Johnson on her outstanding community service
and congratulate her on the prestigious honor of being awarded a 2010 Heart of
the Community Award.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Gail
McGill Johnson.
