RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Jerry Ray Murphy; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Jerry Ray Murphy has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment
to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Murphy was born on June 3, 1953, in Fort McPherson and earned a degree in
political science from Kentucky State University and a State of Georgia real
estate license from Georgia Institute of Real Estate, is a graduate from
Landmark Education, Inc., and holds Fulton County Department of Health and
Wellness Sisters Action Team and Fulton County CERT/Atlanta ACERT certification;
and
WHEREAS,
a resident of Vine City and English Avenue, Mr. Murphy is one of the ten
original graduates of the Historic Westside Gardens Urban Farmer program;
and
WHEREAS,
he has managed the Elm Street Gardens as well as assisted in the development of
14 senior gardens within the Vine City community; and
WHEREAS,
he has provided services to community seniors and residents, ranging from urban
gardens and design to providing residents with connectivity to available
community resources, car detailing, home repairs, and shopping; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Murphy was the first responder during the historic March, 2008, tornado and
played a vital role in the Vine City Civic Association and Vine City Health and
Housing Ministry and Home Depot clean up effort, ensuring that all seniors and
victims received access to recover resources, emergency shelter, and food;
and
WHEREAS,
he has demonstrated exemplary leadership, passion, and commitment to the
empowerment and safety of his beloved community;
and
WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Jerry Ray Murphy for his efficient, effective, unselfish,
and dedicated public service to the Vine City and English Avenue community and
the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Jerry Ray
Murphy.
