A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Erik R. Lindbergh; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Erik R. Lindbergh is the grandson of Charles Lindbergh and will serve as guest speaker at the Griffin B. Bell Convocation at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia, on April 30, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lindbergh is a pilot, artist, entrepreneur, and professional speaker, and he will assist with the dedication of the Lindbergh site on the South Georgia Technical College campus; and

WHEREAS, in May, 2002, Mr. Lindbergh flew a small single engine airplane on a 17 hour solo flight from New York to Paris and raised over $1 million for charity while celebrating the 75th anniversary of his grandfather's epic 1927 flight; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lindbergh serves on the board of directors of the XPRIZE Foundation, the Aviation High School in Seattle, and the Olympic Park Institute and is the founder of the Creative Solutions Alliance; and

WHEREAS, a talented designer, Mr. Lindbergh's unique furniture designs have been featured in People magazine, in Sculptural Pursuit, at NASA, and on the History Channel, and six of his rocket ships were the first bronze sculptures to ever fly in space; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of this distinguished gentleman be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the amazing career and public service of Mr. Erik R. Lindbergh and welcome him to the State of Georgia, the City of Americus, and South Georgia Technical College.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Erik R. Lindbergh.
