A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Dr. Bruce Merrill LeClair; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Bruce Merrill LeClair earned his undergraduate degree with honors from San Diego State University, received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, and a masters of public health degree from the University of Washington; and

WHEREAS, Dr. LeClair, an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia, is a Degree of Fellow recipient from the American Academy of Family Physicians and is the 2009 Georgia Academy of Family Physician's Physician of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Dr. LeClair has published articles in the Journal of Family Practice and Military Medicine and serves as a grant reviewer for the Bureau of Health Professions Scholarships, Health Resources, and Services Administration in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, in his decades of services as a physician, Dr. LeClair has tirelessly and enthusiastically devoted himself to the medical community and the fight for patient and physician rights, and he has taken an active role in politics, promoting state and federal policy on health care; and

WHEREAS, Dr. LeClair has a distinguished history of service and leadership with the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the American Public Health Association; has acted as a representative and advocate for patients and his peers; and has helped to pass meaningful legislation in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he is a board member of St. Vincent de Paul Health Center and a member of the American Academy of Family Physician's Commission on Governmental Advocacy.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Bruce Merrill LeClair for his many contributions to health care policy legislation and to the welfare of the citizens of his community and this state.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Bruce Merrill LeClair.
