A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Ms. Luvenia Wright Jackson on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Luvenia Wright Jackson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her deep personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson has dedicated over 34 years to molding young minds and challenging students to achieve their utmost potential through her work in the field of education; and

WHEREAS, she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary special education and master's degrees in administration and supervision and special education from Georgia State University and an education specialist degree from West Georgia College; and

WHEREAS, since 1976, Ms. Jackson has been committed to the education of children in Clayton County, serving as a Special Education Teacher at Hendrix Drive and Morrow Elementary Schools, Assistant Principal of Riverdale Middle School, and Principal of Pointe South Elementary School and Kendrick Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson diligently and conscientiously devoted her time, talents, and energy to education as an administrator and leader, serving as CEO/President of the Georgia Association of Educators and Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, Chief of Student Services, Senior Administrator, Acting Chief Communications and Information Officer, and Special Assistant to the Superintendent for the Clayton County School System; and

WHEREAS, a native of Burke County, Georgia, Ms. Jackson has earned many accolades and honors in recognition of her dedicated service to the field of education, including the 1996 GAE Administrator of the Year, a 1997 Clayton County NAACP Image Award, and a Lifelong Dedication to Education Award from the Clayton County Juvenile Court; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the students in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Ms. Luvenia Wright Jackson for her over three decades of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia; recognize the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state; and extend to her best wishes on a healthy and happy retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Luvenia Wright Jackson.
