RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the National Organization of Black County Officials, Inc.; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the National Organization of Black County Officials, Inc., (NOBCO), founded in
1982, is a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit corporation, providing project
management and operational structure for black county officials to respond to
issues affecting their constituencies and county governments; and
WHEREAS,
NOBCO's primary directive is to implement contract services, conferences,
publications, educational workshops, and technical assistance through grants,
contracts, and partnerships with government agencies, private foundations, and
corporate entities; and
WHEREAS,
through its national network, NOBCO has served as a catalyst for increasing
minority awareness and participation in a wide range of public policy
initiatives, including issues of international trade, improving local and
international market access, and addressing various economic issues and health
challenges that impact people of color, the poor, the underserved, and
minorities; and
WHEREAS,
the 28th annual Economic Development Conference whose primary theme this year is
"Conquering the Challenges Through Innovative Solutions," promises to provide a
slate of informative workshops geared toward providing the attendees with a
well-rounded conference program; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
distinguished organization be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the 28th Annual Economic Development Conference of the
National Organization of Black County Officials, Inc., and welcome the
conference and its attendees to DeKalb County and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the National
Organization of Black County Officials, Inc.
