A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department became accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) in 2011; and

WHEREAS, over the past several years, the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department has spent considerable time and effort reviewing, revising, developing, and implementing new and revised internal operational policies and procedures throughout the department to bring them in line with established, nationally recognized standards; and

WHEREAS, the accreditation leads to increased efficiency and effectiveness of operations, enhances quality of service to Clayton County's constituency, and provides the board of commissioners and the public with evidence of department accountability; and

WHEREAS, Clayton County is the 102nd agency in the nation and the only county agency in the State of Georgia to gain accreditation by the CAPRA; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Director Detrick Stanford, the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department and the Board of Commissioners have worked diligently and fully demonstrated their commitment to the parks and recreation field by complying with a body of standards deemed essential to the quality of service delivered, the professionalism of its operational system, and having accomplished best management practices; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department for their national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Director Detrick Stanford.
