A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Forrest Hill Academy; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most
important objective of the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS,
Forrest Hill Academy is a merger of Atlanta Public Schools-Community Education
Partners School, the Phoenix Program, Rich's Academy, and all other alternative
school sites utilized under the Atlanta Public Schools umbrella organization and
is in its fourth school year; and
WHEREAS,
under the leadership of Principal Dr. Robert L. Robbins, Sr., the students at
Forrest Hill Academy are offered opportunities to gain academic, social,
self-esteem, self-management, and moral aptitude through volunteer and civic
participation; and
WHEREAS,
the Forrest Hill Academy debate team was founded during the 2009 to 2010 school
year and has exceeded expectations by placing third in the city-wide
championships and continued its accomplishments during the 2010 to 2011 school
year by placing first with the Newcomer Award and third with the Sweepstakes
Award; and
WHEREAS,
Forrest Hill Academy has partnered with Warrick Dunn's Male Mentoring
Partnership Program, Thanksgiving and Christmas Adopt-A-Family Sponsorship, and
the Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta sororities Female Mentoring
Partnerships and joined the Hosea Feed the Hungry Campaign; and
WHEREAS,
the programs have allowed students to improve their critical thinking skills,
reading and writing skills, research skills, and academic performance, refine
decision-making skills, bridge the gap between high school and college, define
paths to successful careers, and become beneficial contributors to their
communities; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia takes great pride in the diligent study and preparation
taken by the students of Forrest Hill Academy and looks forward in anticipation
to the great achievements this school will accomplish in the
future.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the students, teachers, parents, and staff of Forrest Hill
Academy for their outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in
education.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Forrest Hill
Academy's Principal Dr. Robert L. Robbins, Sr.
