A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Dr. John A. Jackson upon the occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. John A. Jackson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in the teaching profession and his deep personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, this highly respected professional educator has served with honor and distinction as evidenced by his 25 years of superlative service, with ten years in Rome City, three years in Clarke County, five years in Greene County, and seven years in Oconee County; and

WHEREAS, active in his community, Dr. Jackson is the past president of the Georgia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and former member of the International ASCD Conference Planning Committee and International ASCD Constituent Relations Committee; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jackson has published several articles in The Reporter and Focus newsletters and in The Herald Journal; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jackson's significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jackson has served with honor and distinction as an educator and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his contributions to the students in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. John A. Jackson for 25 years of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state; congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for health and happiness in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. John A. Jackson.
