A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Miss Vicki Lee; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Miss Vicki Lee was born Patsy Willene Tuten on May 6, 1950, in Alma, Georgia, one of seven beloved children of Loyd and Thelma Tuten; and

WHEREAS, she is a self-taught musician, artist, singer, and songwriter; she is known around the world by her stage name, "Miss Vicki Lee," in general as "Alma's claim to fame," and by her two Cherokee Indian names, Cherokee Rose and White Fawn; and

WHEREAS, at the age of 13, Miss Vicki Lee was performing on the local radio stations singing gospel music and proceeded onto various talent shows throughout South Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she entered and won many contests, including the Country Showdown, Wrangler Star Search, KFC Songwriting Contest, and Sparkey's Country Tavern, where she won the title of Miss Country Music; and

WHEREAS, she has performed with fellow artists, such as her idol Loretta Lynn, The Bellamy Brothers, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Del Reeves, and countless more, and Miss Vicki Lee's artistic credits are beyond reproach and proof of this energetic performer's many musical talents; and

WHEREAS, she wrote her first book in the mid 1990s, We've Got Country Cookin' at Vicki's House Tonight, which started out as a cookbook but later turned into a journey through the memories of a country music star with celebrities, family, friends, and some good ole' Southern cookin'; and

WHEREAS, the book takes you through the journey from Alma, Georgia's own Patsy Tuten and her memories of family and friends to country music celebrity Vicki Lee sharing her performances with other celebrities and stories of her music; and

WHEREAS, the book is also a collection of stories from family and friends with recipe after recipe of good home style South Georgia cooking; and

WHEREAS, Miss Vicki Lee is the proud mother of four remarkable children, Rick, Rich, Tina, and John; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of this talented artist be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Miss Vicki Lee for her amazing voice and songwriting skills; recognize her lifelong dedication to her family, friends, and fans and her many charitable contributions to her hometown of Alma and her home state of Georgia; and extend to her best wishes for future success in the music industry.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Vicki Lee.
