RESOLUTION
Honoring
Robert M. Dyess, Jr., on the occasion of his promotion to Brigadier General for
the United States Army; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their
personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the
freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and
WHEREAS,
Brigadier General Robert M. Dyess, Jr., has served as a guardian of this
nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army for 27 years, valiantly
and courageously defending democracy and his fellow Americans; and
WHEREAS,
born in Appomattox, Virginia, on December 22, 1959, Brigadier General Dyess
began his military career with an education at the United States Military
Academy, followed by a master's degree in systems engineering from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University, graduated from the Command and
General Staff College, and earned a strategic studies degree from Air
University; and
WHEREAS,
he has served in the United States, Germany, Korea, and Afghanistan with the
82nd Airborne Division, the 3rd Infantry Division, United States Army Forces
Command, and the Army Capabilities Integration Center; and
WHEREAS,
Brigadier General Dyess has trained and studied at numerous schools in this
state, including Airborne School, Ranger School, Infantry Officer, Basic Course,
and Captain's Career Course and has been assigned to Fort Stewart, Fort
McPherson, and Fort Gillem; and
WHEREAS,
he has been united in love and marriage for 23 wonderful years to Sharon Hall
Dyess, and they have been blessed with a remarkable daughter, Marilyn;
and
WHEREAS,
Brigadier General Dyess embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning
in something greater than himself, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that
the outstanding accomplishments and sacrifices of this remarkable and
distinguished American be honored appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Brigadier General Robert M. Dyess, Jr., for his deep personal
commitment to protecting democracy, recognize his willingness to sacrifice his
own personal safety and comfort to ensure the well-being of his fellow American,
and congratulate him upon being conferred the rank of Brigadier
General.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Brigadier
General Robert M. Dyess, Jr.
