A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Kayla Michelle Lemons; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Kayla Michelle Lemons was tragically taken from this world on Easter Sunday, 2009; and

WHEREAS, in her short life, Kayla accomplished many great things and uplifted the lives and spirits of everyone she encountered; and

WHEREAS, Kayla was her daddy's little girl, with contagious laughter and a smile that warmed your heart; and

WHEREAS, at the age of nine, Kayla was making a name for herself in her community as a talented performer as a member of The Born Again Dancers Troop at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, as a cheerleader for the Atlanta Falcons Junior Team and the Fusion All Star Cheerleaders, and as a dancer for the Bal-ethnic Dance Academy; and

WHEREAS, she served as the peace keeper of her friends, never choosing sides or enticing conflict; and

WHEREAS, Kayla had a courageous soul and always encouraged and inspired others to confront their fears with her fearless attitude; and

WHEREAS, her grace and poise was demonstrated in many breathtaking performances, including appearances in the Urban Nutcracker Ballet, Tap at Spelman College, The Power Minute radio show, Rip the Runway Red Carpet celebrity show, the Eagles Connection television show, and on the hit series Deserving Design on HGTV; and

WHEREAS, by the example Kayla made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live, and though her life was cut tragically short, Kayla's memory and example will live on through the many lives she touched; and

WHEREAS, Kayla's presence in this world was a precious gift from God and she will forever be in the hearts and minds of her family, friends, and neighbors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Kayla Michelle Lemons and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her untimely passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Kayla Michelle Lemons.
