RESOLUTION
Commending
the Georgia Young Farmers Association and recognizing February 10, 2011, as
Young Farmers Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Young Farmers Association was founded in 1971 to serve as the
primary adult education delivery system for young Georgia farmers and today
stands as the nation's largest affiliate within the Young Farmer Association
network with 52 chapters and 3,657 members; and
WHEREAS,
members of the Georgia Young Farmers Association render valuable service to
their local communities through classes, field demonstrations, school tours, and
a wide array of additional educational activities; and
WHEREAS,
these young farmers benefit from the hands-on instruction provided by the
Georgia Young Farmers Association teachers which allows them to learn how to
increase farming efficiency and productivity; and
WHEREAS,
providing these learning opportunities to the youth of Georgia has a positive
impact on farm families, rural communities, and consumers; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Young Farmers Association's public relations campaign, "Got
Food...Thank a Farmer," is being heralded as one of the premier outreach
initiatives in Georgia agriculture history.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Georgia Young Farmers Association for its contribution to
the welfare of this state and nation through its important work educating future
farmers and recognize February 10, 2011, as Young Farmers Day at the state
capitol.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to President
William Culpepper and Executive Director Lynn Barber of the Georgia Young
Farmers Association.
