A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the McEachern High School girls basketball team on their Class AAAAA State
Championship and inviting them to be recognized by the House of Representatives;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the McEachern High School girls basketball team demonstrated a feat of greatness
with a dominating 69-36 victory over Hillgrove High School to claim the 2012
Class AAAAA State Championship; and
WHEREAS,
through perseverance and iron determination, the McEachern High School girls
basketball team finished a perfect (33-0) season, earning the first state title
for McEachern High School and a number two national ranking according to ESPN;
and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team, including seniors Dominique Wilson,
Pachiyaanna Roberts, and Kayla Montgomery; their superb offensive and defensive
talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Phyllis Arthur; and
WHEREAS,
Dominique Wilson led the team with 20 points, including eight in the fourth
quarter and added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals; and
WHEREAS,
Pachiyaanna Roberts collected a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds
along with four blocked shots, as Kayla Montgomery collected four points, three
rebounds, and six blocks; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the McEachern High School girls basketball team for winning
the Class AAAAA State Championship, extend their sincerest best wishes for
future success, and invite them to be recognized by the House of Representatives
at a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the McEachern
High School girls basketball team.
