WHEREAS, Chief Vann was a member of the Treaty Party that supported negotiation with the United States for voluntary emigration of the Cherokee people to the West in order to secure their rights; and

WHEREAS, the bypass from Highway 27 south to Blacks Bluff Road in Floyd County crosses "The Trail of Tears" where the Cherokee people walked west in 1838-1839.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the bypass in Floyd County from Highway 27 south to Blacks Bluff Road is dedicated as the Chief Vann Bypass.
