A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Ms. Dana Lemon; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Dana Lemon is the first woman elected to serve on the Transportation Board of Georgia and is currently in her second term; and

WHEREAS, she has previously served on numerous other boards, including the Davidson College Alumni Association, Odyssey Family Counseling Center, and Henry County Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, she is the president and co-owner of her family business, W.D. Lemon and Sons Funeral Home, and works alongside her six siblings, and she serves in leadership with the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Lemon graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, in 1986 and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Services in Atlanta in 1995; and

WHEREAS, she has been honored numerous times, including the Bill Pierce Award in 1995, Woman of the Year from the Atlanta Chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar in 2004, and the Athena Award from the Henry County Chamber of Commerce in 2006; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Lemon is an active member of New Life Church in Decatur; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, her strong sense of loyalty, and her positive work ethic have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Dana Lemon on her contributions to the State of Georgia and recognize her many years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Dana Lemon.
