A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Pilot Club of Jones County; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Pilot International is an innovative volunteer service organization that allows members to take an active role in making communities a better place to live; and

WHEREAS, through its signature project, BrainMinders, Pilot International promotes brain injury and brain disorders, provides prevention education programs for children and adults, holds workshops on brain awareness, and supports brain-related programs; and

WHEREAS, the BrainMinder Buddies focuses on providing education to children
ages three to eight and highlights injury prevention through its Play Safe, Play Smart
program; and

WHEREAS, Pilot Clubs from around the country have worked to reduce brain injuries through the BrainMinder program, making presentations to schools and communties about brain safety; and

WHEREAS, the Pilot Club of Jones County has done an astounding job educating children on brain injuries and prevention, making 267 presentations to 8,199 children during 2008-2009; and

WHEREAS, in 2010, the club has already made 38 presentations to 1,543 children, with many more presentations planned; and

WHEREAS, the amazing dedication of the Pilot Club of Jones County and its faithful members is worthy of recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Pilot Club of Jones County for its dedicated efforts to making a difference in the world's future and preventing brain injuries.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Pilot Club of Jones County.
