A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Ms. Deborah Mack; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Deborah Mack was named the 2008 Woman of the Year by the Lake Lanier Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association; and

WHEREAS, she was elected Hall County Commissioner in 2002 and 2004 and appointed vice chairman of the Board of Commissioners in 2005 with the unanimous support of fellow commissioners; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Mack's wide range of community activities include service on the Hall County Jury Commission and the Human Relations Council as well as service on the Board of Directors for the Hall County Department of Family and Children Services, Georgia Mountains Community Services, Parks and Leisure Services, Gateway House, Guest House, Boys and Girls Club, United Way, Light House Manor, High School VOCA, Delta Sigma Theta, Sunshine Organization, and Northeast Georgia Health System; and

WHEREAS, an active member in her community, Ms. Mack serves on the board of Parks and Leisure Services, the Georgia Mountains Community Services, and the Court Systems' Mental Health Advisory; and

WHEREAS, she attained certification by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) in 2004, followed by advanced certification and completion of the ACCG Academy for Leadership in 2005; and

WHEREAS, she graduated from E.E. Butler High School in 1963 and Spelman College in 1967; and

WHEREAS, her leadership efforts helped secure more than $1 million in grants for housing rehabilitation in the Black and Cooley Drive area of Hall County, the largest of 77 community grants in Georgia's 2006 allocation; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that this body express its appreciation to Ms. Mack for the great credit she reflects on her community and this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Deborah Mack for her outstanding service to Hall County and the State of Georgia and congratulate her upon her recognition as 2008 Woman of the Year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Deborah Mack.
