A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Dr. Tulasi R. Vanapalli; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Tulasi R. Vanapalli has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for her leadership in the field of medicine, her compassionate treatment of her patients, and her deep concern for the well-being of others; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Vanapalli graduated from one of India's top medical colleges, Guntur Medical College, and worked as a faculty member for the school before moving to the Republic of Ireland to further her studies and training; and

WHEREAS, she is united in love and marriage to Dr. Raju M. Vanapalli, an orthopaedic surgeon, and they have been blessed with three remarkable children, Jysotna, Bhanu, and Bindu; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Vanapalli and her family moved to the United States in 1977 to pursue medical training in the Midwest and the Northeast, and in 1981, they made Jonesboro, Georgia, their home; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her internal medicine practice in Morrow, Georgia, she participates in health fairs, provides follow-up care for individuals who do not have a primary care physician, and personally arranges referrals to specialists when such care is needed; and

WHEREAS, an active community leader, Dr. Vanapalli organized the first 5K run/walk to benefit the Good Shepherd Clinic in 2009, a nonprofit organization which treats uninsured residents of Clayton County; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted her time, talents, and energy to improving the health care provided to her uninsured neighbors through her advocacy and fund-raising efforts; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the amazing career and outstanding work of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Tulasi R. Vanapalli on her incredible career in the medical field and extend to her their utmost gratitude for her selfless community service to Clayton County and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Tulasi R. Vanapalli.
