RESOLUTION
Commending
the Monticello First United Methodist Church; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Monticello First United Methodist Church was founded originally in 1809, and
meetings were held in members' homes and under brush arbors; and
WHEREAS,
the seeds which were sown by the loving and humble efforts of those devout
worshipers have blossomed into a landmark institution under the guiding hands
and heart of its current shepherd, Pastor John M. Brown, Jr., who answered the
call to service and leadership in 2004; and
WHEREAS,
the congregation of this church has compiled an unparalleled record of
constructive, compassionate, and humanitarian service which it demonstrates
daily through open minds, open hearts, and open doors; and
WHEREAS,
the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by this church as it continues to
grow and lead people worldwide to experience the fullness of their ordained
destiny in Christ Jesus is a source of strength, inspiration, and direction for
persons of all walks of life and from all economic strata; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that during this time of celebration of the
200th anniversary of the church's founding, this enduring example of God's
message of peace and love be recognized for its innumerable good works rendered
on behalf of persons in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Monticello First United Methodist Church for the two
centuries of steadfast, unselfish, and loving service to the people of this
state and extend to the congregation their best wishes for continued growth and
service to the community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Pastor John
M. Brown, Jr.
