RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Kelley Family; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
parents Donna and Tim Kelley started out many years ago playing bluegrass and
Gospel music in nursing homes and churches where Donna played piano and guitar
and Tim played banjo and guitar; and
WHEREAS,
the Kelley Family Band consists of Donna and Tim's five remarkable children, 22
year-old Brittany who plays piano; 20 year-old Timothy who plays fiddle, violin,
guitar, mandolin, and viola; 12 year-old Peppy who plays piano, fiddle,
mandolin, violin, and guitar; nine-year-old Victoria who plays piano, fiddle,
and violin; and six-year-old Daniel who plays fiddle and violin;
and
WHEREAS,
Brittany and Timothy are both music education majors at Augusta State University
where Brittany studies voice and piano and Timothy studies violin and voice;
and
WHEREAS,
Brittany and Timothy own and operate Kelley Music Studio, a music studio where
they have been teaching voice, piano, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and viola for
the last five years; and
WHEREAS,
the Kelley family has received numerous honors, including Peppy who has won the
Georgia-Carolina Talent Competition in 2010 playing fiddle; Peppy and Victoria
who won second place in the Columbia County Talent Competition in 2011 for
singing and playing fiddle; and Timothy who won the Fort Gordon Teen Talent
Competition in 2010 playing fiddle and the Georgia-Carolina Talent Competition,
the Columbia County Talent Competition, and the Augusta State University Talent
Competition in 2011 playing fiddle, mandolin, and singing; and
WHEREAS,
the Kelley Family has had the opportunity to play with bluegrass legends such as
Little Roy Lewis, Lizzy Long, and Earl Scruggs and Gospel legends such as The
Inspirations and The Weatherfords; and
WHEREAS,
the Kelley Family has been featured in several newspaper articles and performed
on television and radio shows; and
WHEREAS,
Peppy released her own CD in 2011 entitled
Me and My
Fiddle, and the family is currently
working on their first family CD; and
WHEREAS,
the Kelley Family consistently provides extraordinary entertainment as
performers and the State of Georgia is proud that these talented musicians call
this state home.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Kelley Family on their remarkable accomplishments in the
music industry, recognize their exemplary service uplifting the lives of others,
and extend their most sincere best wishes for future success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Kelley
Family.
