A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Miss Whitney Leah Conner, 2010 Georgia Watermelon Queen; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Miss Whitney Leah Conner of Abbeville, Georgia, was selected as the 2010 Georgia Watermelon Queen by the Georgia Watermelon Association, and, in Miss Conner, the association found a deserving queen and a talented, beautiful, and accomplished young woman; and

WHEREAS, Miss Conner, the daughter of Ronnie and Debbie Conner, is attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where she plans on earning a registered nursing degree; and

WHEREAS, as Georgia Watermelon Queen, Miss Conner is the official spokesperson for the Georgia Watermelon Association, and she will make many appearances across the state in 2010 on behalf of Georgia's watermelon industry and as an ambassador for the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Miss Conner is involved in numerous organizations and clubs, and her leadership has been invaluable as vice president of fellowship for Phi Theta Kappa and the Georgia Association of Nursing Students, vice president of membership for the Agri-Business Club, and secretary of the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Ambassadors; and

WHEREAS, she has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including President's List, Dean's List, Distinguished Achievement Student, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Distinguished Honor Student, Ms. Baldwin, and USAA National Agricultural Award; and

WHEREAS, with her poise, beauty, and intelligence, she is sure to be an exemplary representative of agriculture and the watermelon industry in Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Miss Whitney Leah Conner on her selection as the 2010 Georgia Watermelon Queen and for her many achievements and outstanding representation of the State of Georgia and its agricultural heritage.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Whitney Leah Conner.
