A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Victor Herbert West; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Victor Herbert West; and
WHEREAS,
Victor West was born on March 15, 1940, in Hall County, a beloved son of the
late Windom Lee and Edna Scofield West, Sr.; and
WHEREAS,
he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Air Force, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans;
and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, Victor West was an active member of St. Paul
United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
he was united in love and marriage to Mary Ann Nix West for 49 years and was
blessed with two remarkable children, Lee West and Kelley Foote; seven wonderful
grandchildren, Blake and Sadie Foote, Austin and Cheyenne West, and Daniel,
Nicholas, and Benjamin Cloud; and four adored great-grandsons; and
WHEREAS,
he was a former president of the Fraternal Order of Police and retired from the
State Patrol after 29 years of service; and
WHEREAS,
he was a member of the American Association of State Troopers, the Masonic
Caledonia Lodge No. 121, and the American Legion; and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Victor West will long be remembered for his
love of family and friendship, and this loyal son, husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of
knowing him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Victor Herbert West and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Victor Herbert West.
