A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Wilson Burford Clark, Jr.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Wilson Burford Clark, Jr., has long been recognized by the citizens of this
state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated public servant has devoted numerous hours of his time, talents,
and energy to improving the lives of the residents of the City of Woodbine
through his superlative service on the Woodbine Housing Authority and City
Council, as Woodbine's representative on the Camden County Joint Development
Authority and the Camden County Public Service Authority, and as mayor;
and
WHEREAS,
his vision and leadership were invaluable as a member of the city council from
1970-1973 and again from 1984-1987, and as mayor from 1973-1981 and again from
1990-2009; and
WHEREAS,
during Mr. Clark's tenure as mayor and a member of the city council, the City of
Woodbine saw great economic growth and community accomplishment, including
expansion of the water and sewer services for the city, the establishment of
Woodbine Riverwalk, the transformation of old train tracks into walking trails,
construction of a new city hall and public safety building, and the preservation
of the Old Jackson Theater and the Old Lettuce Packing Shed; and
WHEREAS,
throughout his nearly five decades of faithful service to the people of
Woodbine, Mr. Clark also served as a volunteer firefighter, helped repair water
and sewer lines and remove trees with government agencies after major storms,
and is a charter member of the Old School Renovation Committee which established
the Woodbine Opry; and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Wilson Burford Clark, Jr., for his efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the City of Woodbine and the State of
Georgia and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health
and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Wilson
Burford Clark, Jr.
